"The threat from climate change is perhaps the greatest challenge facing our world. Without decisive and urgent action, it has the potential to be an economic disaster and an environmental catastrophe. The Climate Change Bill, the first of its kind in any country, demonstrates our determination that this role will continue." Tony Blair Prime Minister (Forward, Draft Climate Change Bill, March 2007).
The UK Government is committed to addressing both the causes and consequences of climate change. The draft Climate Change Bill (published in March 2007) aims to introduce a clear, credible, long-term framework for the UK to achieve its goals of reducing carbon dioxide emissions and ensuring steps are taken towards adapting to the impacts of climate change.
This two-day conference with confirmed keynote speaker Nicky Gavron AM, Deputy Mayor of London, will explain why we must move towards a low carbon built environment and how we can do this in a way that changes the way we live without reducing quality of life. The conference will examine the UK's opportunity to pioneer new carbon-neutral products, technologies, and services focussing on (a) houses and commercial buildings and (b) new buildings and already existing buildings.
Come and join the debate!
