Presidential Luncheon 2009
Warm sunshine and warm hospitality welcomed guests of the London District Surveyors Association at its annual luncheon held at the House of Lords. This very special event was hosted by the Lord Howie of Troon and guests were able to enjoy fine food in the unique setting of the House and to take in the views of the River Thames from the terrace.
The Association was host to 95 guests in the Cholmondeley Room and Terrace on the 13th October. Guests included Peter Head of Arups who responded to the Presidents after luncheon speech and gave a presentation on climate change and the need for drastic action to be taken now, if we are to avoid the catastrophic results of continuing to produce CO2 at the current levels.
Sport was the subject uppermost in guests minds at a number of tables with the Olympic Delivery Team, a major customer of Newham, dining with the English Lawn Tennis Association guests of Merton the home of Wimbledon
Other guests included Beryl Menzies, President of Association of Building Engineers, John Watson, President of the London Region of the Federation of Master Builders as well as leading architects, contractors and professionals involved in the construction industry in the Capital.
